.....that I didn't ask for!
I got a letter today from MBNA telling me "After careful consideration, we are unable to grant you a credit facility at this time"
I've just moved into my first flat (FTB) a few months back and I haven't applied for credit anywhere so I'm puzzled to get this letter.
THB, I hadn't heard of MBNA until this morning, much less apply for credit from them.
Should I be worried?

THB? I mean TBH. Having a Yoda moment.0

Yes you should be! I would contact them to discuss why you've received this letter. The views expressed on this website, be they in text, pictures or sound, are my own personal views. Not those of my employer, its staff or colleagues.0

looking at the letter again I am worried.
The letter is on cheap flimsy paper and it has been basly printed. My home address is incorrect.
There is no phone number or email address. Just a postbox number.
The address given is MBNA Europe Bank Limited,PO Box 1004,Chester Business Park,Chester,CH4 9WW
Does anyone know if this is the correct address for MBNA?0 -

You should always check your credit file. I got a letter from then just as you described. When I spoke to them they said they needed to see me have some form of credit.0 -
Seeing as I just got my MBNA statement today and it is sitting next to me, I can confirm that this address is correct. Also, MBNA have started printing the second sheet of my credit card statement on really low grade paper, so I wouldn't be too perturbed on that issue.booey wrote:looking at the letter again I am worried.

My recommendation would be to call them as soon as poss about this mystery declined application - and maybe check your credit report too.
0800 062 062 appears to be a standard contact number for MBNA (24hr helpline - call them now!) on the statement.0 -
Thanks for the address and phone number. You've put my mind at rest a bit. I was worried it was some kind of scam.I will ring them.
I definatly haven't applied for any credit cards, any loans or any HP. I don't want them.
I'm not on the electoral register yet, it's on my things to do list because I want to vote.
I'll post again after the phone call. Thanks all.0 -
the electoral roll is often checked when applying for credit0
