Catch not working on washing machine door.

Options
The door is not clicking closed on my 3 year old Indesit WIL143 machine. It looks completely normal, and when the door is open the catch lever looks fine and moves smoothly. When I try to close it it just won't catch properly, so I can't use my machine.
Does anyone know if it is something easy to fix?
Can I do it myself?
Or would it cost a lot for a washing machine engineer to fix? I can't afford a new machine, but equally, don't really want to handwash for a family for a long time.

By a strange coincidence the door catch of my washing machine snapped off yesterday. I looked on Ebay and bought a new one for £2.85. If you can use a screwdriver you can do the job.

I have searched Ebay for Servis Door Catch and they have them for all different models.

That's just it, I don't know if I need a new catch as it is in place and looks as if it moves okay.
I will check them out on ebay, thank you.

Had a look now on ebay. Maybe it looks as if there is a spring somewhere in the mechanism which may have gone. I may go for that for about 11.60 inc postage

I'm just bumping this just in case there are any people with some 'know how' so that I don't waste my money.
I am going to buy the new door handle for my machine on ebay. I just want to be sure that it's what i need. When I have the machine door open, the mechanism looks ok. If I put the handle in and out, then the 'catch' bit goes in and out nicely as it should. The problem is when I close the door, it looks as if it is closed enough, but won't click shut. Is there something which the catch has to grab onto inside the wee hole on the machine which it goes into IYKWIM ?
The only thing I can think of that may have happened is that my 3 yr old tried to open the door during a cycle, and something may have snapped.
This is the part I think I may need but as I think it is something inside the hole that has broken, it looks like thses bits are all for the door bit.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Mind you, I am surprised how much less washing is being generated because I am washing everything by hand. A lot less!!!

First try a squirt of WD40. If that doesn't work, order the spare part kit.

I had a look again at the door handle mechanism. All the bits which are in the spare kit, look to be in order on the door handle. I will give it a bit of oil. Do you mean in the handle mechanism itself? If the door is a wee bit offline, would that be causing the problem?

I need your help again please. My new handle mechanism arrived today, but I can't figure out how to get the old one off. I took the whole door off, as I don't want to do any more damage. That was easy, just 2 screws. The inner part of the door had 6 screws which came out easily enough, but I can't separate the inner part from the outer, to replace the handle. I don't want to dig in with a screwdriver as if I was taking the lid off a paint tin, IYKWIM, but the 2 bits don't look like they want to come apart.
Any suggestions welcome from anyone who has successfully changed a handle.

Bless you. Those are really helpful. I'd been Googling but couldn't find it. I have removed the inner screws, but the inner bit doesn't seem to want to come off. Any idea how I can prise it off? Don't know how much pressure I can put on it.
