Use a brush head to hook the branches down near enough so you can chop them. If you have a Wilkinson nearby you can buy and extendable pruning hook that is basically a chopper on a long pole worked by a rope, (£15!).

In answer to the question about how long before fruiting on blueberries - we got a token gesture on our Gold Traube variety plant in its first season (i.e. planted in March, fruit in summer), however it was a good size garden centre plant rather than a small cheaper one. Looking at ours yesterday (now coming up to its third summer) its filling out nicely and should give a fairly good crop. Only problem I have is that we appear to have some voracious pests (aka the kids!) that eat all the fruit before we get chance to use it.

Thanks Dave. Looks like we won't get too much fruit wise this year. I am willing to be patient!

Need to make some bigger garden plans for this year as last year I just put a few random flowers and veg in. All did really well but no structure!
