stinky gypsophilia..

Hi all, i got a bouquet for mothers day (lucky me!) and it has 2 big sprigs of gypsophilia in it. I came into the lounge this morning and the smell was phenomenal.. yuck.. like bad breath and sweat..

is there anything i can do to reduce the smell, add anything to the water etc, or do i have to chuck them out as i cant bear it??

Chuck them, rinse off the stems of the other flowers, change the water...
I find chrysanthemums do the same thing. I think it's the stems that start to rot really quickly in the water..

thanks for the reply, i did chuck them.. couldnt stand it. i was looking it up and apparently they give off the same chemical that is in animal sweat- hence the revolting odour, so they are not that popular for indoor arrangements.. now i know!
