PC World - rude and threatening

Maybe the manager thought you were up to no good by taking photos. However, this doesn't give him licence to be rude and for that reason, you should get in touch with PC World and bring this to their attention.
i have done the same many times in shops
its much easier to take a pic listing model number and specs they have listed
often these dont tally directly with other models so you need to compare specs
i would be launching a full on complaint if it were me0 -
i can imagine this sort of thing happening more and more in future.
i only did this for the first time myself, a few weeks ago, when i was looking at desks in furniture shops, shops that don't have their own websites.
i think it's a brilliant way to "remember" exactly what each item looked like, and then compare them at home.0 -
The reason is that it is private property and you need permission to take photographs.
Also, the deletion of the photographs is disposing of evidence. I would tap in photographers rights into google and see what comes up.0 -
Should have pointed out that their CCTV was taking images of you without your expressed consent. They are entitled to do so as you don't have to enter their store, and in small print on some sign somewhere will be a disclaimer that CCTV is being used for security reasons.Legal team on standby0

The picture contains information. Your suggestion is that the exact same information should be written down instead. Why? It has exactly the same content but take about 100 times longer to write it down manually. In all seriousness this is 2010 not 1910, people have to be prepared that the general public have access to technology that makes life easier.0 -
If it's deterred you from ever using PCW ever again, then the manager has done you a big favour.
Take your business to a proper computer store. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Who's up for organising a flashmob to enter the store and take photos of every item in there? :-)
I guess the harsh reality is that people go into these shops to have a play, and then go back home to order it from somewhere much cheaper. Maybe even PC World employees are starting to realise this...?0 -
You should have explained that you wanted to do your own research on the products as the store's staff know nothing about computers.0

The paranoia surrounding people taking photographs in public spaces (and privately owned spaces open to the public) is a problem in its own right.
If someone leaps to the conclusion that someone taking photos is up-to-no-good, then they have a problem attitude. Full stop.0 -

Well then PC World should be pricing their products more competitively, it's a tough world. What next, stop people trying out the products unless they sign an agreement to only purchase from DSG? :rotfl:0
