It's Terram, not touram. Dodgy landscapers will tell you that it is there to prevent weeds in your driveway when in reality weeds won't grow through 6" of hardcore and 2" of monoblocking so a bit of terram won't make a difference.
The weeds that appear in driveways are usually rooted inbetween the blocks and it is a simple case of pulling them out and or spraying weedkiller once a year. Pressure washing the weeds out will take even more time and money than just pulling the weeds out or spraying them as you need to wait for the driveway to dry then brush kiln dried sand in between the blocks.

If you don't like the idea of spraying weedkiller, get a little flame gun - ours works a treat!

Be aware that if you have a gravel driveway, as we do, all the filthy neighbourhood cats will use it as a toilet.

I would go for permeable paving, as it will omit the need for planning permission and also you won't need any drainage, a cost saving there. It requires little maintenance apart from a quick sweep over every so often, any debris getting into it will degrade away. You may get plant growth initial around garden areas, but this will soon stop after a while.

    Trust this helps.

They do it to annoy you because you think they're filthy.. ;)

See that suprises me..we had part of our garden gravelled and it was fab for the cats not going on as they tend to not like it under their feet..we removed it a few weeks back as it was white to begin with and no amount of cleaning helped! we replaced it with bark which is 10 times worse and is alwasy dotted in poo..guess what's being dug up shortly and replaced back to gravel!
