Creda W220VW washing machine-Is it ok just to use it with just a cold water feed?

Hello,
Just moved into a new house! I have a Creda Creda W220VW washing machine. I plumbed it in to both the hot & cold water feeds...however the hot copper washing machine pipe leaks (when on & connected a drip every 20 secs or so-even when off still drips but much slower..stops for periods of time too) so I turned this off (as I'm crap at DIY I went in to panic mode-thinking the house would get flooded).
Prior to fitting the hot water hoses (had to buy 2 & connect with a universal bush-all brand new so guess the actual copper red inlet is knackered?? Luckily I rent so will get someone out to look at it) I ran a couple of washes at 30 degrees-seemed fine! Also put a 95 degree cotton wash on in error (!) & on cold feed to machine only seemed to heat up ok.
My question is....will the machine work ok on just cold feed on ALL programmes? I read somewhere that some programmes may not work correctly or it will use a lot of electric to heat water.
Any ideas anyone?
Also I always turn off cold water inlet at copper pipe ( a pain as difficult to reach under sink!)...no sign of a leak anywhere on this....am I just being paranoid & is it safe to leave it on?? I have visions of it just 'going' & a huge flood will ensue....a friend told me they don't just 'go' though...you'd see a small say 'drip' 1st...any help anyone?

As the machine is hot & cold fill, it may need both to work properly. You could get a Y shaped adaptor to connect the hot & cold from the washer to the cold inlet (50p)0

Hi DAVID29DPO...already have a y adaptor on cold inlet as a cold feed only dishwasher is connected too...sorry I should have made that clearer in my 1st post! Really tight & awkward for space under sink as well....
50p!!!!!!!!! I payed £4-30 in Wicks (!) .....0 -
Hi,
disconnect hot at drip end, remove washer and insert other way round and make sure it is seated properly, or if you see any obvious damage to washer get a new one, pennies.0 -
Hi frugal....have already checked & turned washer...it's brand new! I'm very very nervous about even touching the inlet valve...turned off now & seems to have stopped dripping overnight.
Do you have any idea re: washing machine? Seems to work fine on just cold feed....0 -
have you tried using ptfe tape on the thread?0

In all honesty its in such a difficult place I can't reach it to put tape on!0

Anyone any ideas re: if it's ok to use washing machine on cold feed inlet (1 hose) only??
Red hose (now turned off) has stopped dripping but think I'll still get someone out to look at it (as its free!).0 -
Try posting here https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk Im sure i heard somewhere that most cycles below 50deg dont take in hot water anyway. Its just the hotter cycles that draw from the hot water pipe. The machine would soon tell you if there is a problem..i.e flashing lights.0

Thanks-will try that!0

If it works ok on cold feed only, then let it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
