add/remove programs I'm assuming? Or IE6 is still installed somewhere...

unless microsoft have improved their beta software, you will have to use system restore... i know that with ie 7 and media player 11 betas i couldnt remove using add/remove ... stupid microsoft not including an uninstall feature

Yes netscape was the big browser before IE.

The standards agency more or less liken the code to mozilla/netscape thats why IE users do suffer from viewing webs sometimes.

Ok. Another way to re-phrase that..

"As long as windows has been around so has Internet Explorer.. thus most web pages are designed for compatibility with this though now most will do for that and Mozilla of course. Netscape has never had a strong hold on the market due to the none big differences between that and other broswers... only MAC users which is a small percent of all computer users will use Netscape"

Thank you for those funny replies.

I've checked and there is an uninstall option for explorer 7 beta, but I've remembered that Quidco told me on no account to delete cookies if I want my cashback to come through, so I suppose I'm stuck with ie7.

By the way, how do I delete cookies selectively on explorer? - easy to do on firefox, but on explorer i can only find the option to delete the lot.

Windows never came with IE when windows was first released.

First time a browser was introduced was in windows 95.

I was a beta tester for I.E. 5 when it was released early in 1998, so near 8 years on they are running beta 3 IE 7.

Netscape was the first big player in the browser wars.

    ....no it wasn't.

Lets not argue but unless you give me statistics saying more people used netscape than IE than I don't believe what you're saying.

Netscape was never pre compiled into windows. by the time windows got popular it had IE. only AOL and MACS use netscape which is a minority of users.

IE has always been the big player. Netscape has always been a competitor.. used to be a big competitor but never as big as IE.

First browser I ever used was Argonet's Voyager for the Acorn about 1995/6.

Mozilla. In October, 1994, Netscape released the the first beta version of their browser, Mozilla 0.96b, over the Internet. On December 15, the final version was released, Mozilla 1.0, making it the first commercial web browser. An open source version of the Netscape browser was released in 2002 was also named Mozilla in tribute to this early version, and then released as the quickly popular FireFox in November, 2004.

Internet Explorer. On August 23rd, 1995, Microsoft released their Windows 95 operating system, including a Web browser called Internet Explorer. By the fall of 1996, Explorer had a third of market share, and passed Netscape to became the leading web browser in 1999.
