Rust from a PVC window sill

Not sure if this is the right place to post but feel free to move if not. I have a tin money box on my bedroom window sill (very MSE) but as my window is normally open all the time at some stage it has got wet with rain and the box has rusted and left a big ring. I have no idea how to try and get rid of it, any ideas?…
