Exhaust price!

ATS are charging me £533 pounds for a new exhaust on my peuguot 53 plate 206 diesel HDI. Is this about the right price? It seems a lot of money. The man at the shop said that they couldn;t do it cheaper as exhausts are now type approved. Does this price sound right?

Does it include the cat?

If you can fit yourself (all the new parts bolt together easily, the only problem could be at the manifold). OR if you have a friendly independant that'll fit only.0 -
Thanks for the reply..No chance of fitting it myself Im clueless! Yes the cat is needed too. They said the whole exhaust was needed. The AA dropped me off at ATS post breakdown so I was kinda stuck with them really. They have already fitted it and Im picking it up tomorrow. It just seems like a hell of a lot to me. Last exhaust I bought on my old corsa only cost me about £250 at kwik fit!0

Cats for vehicles registered after 1st April 2001 have to be type R approved, which generally does mean they are a bit more expensive than older models.
The link given by scotsman will fit your vehicle however i very much doubt it will be type approved for that money which means technically no garage should fit it to your vehicle.Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -
Why are you having your exhaust replaced? What reason did they give?
Part of the exhaust, perhaps, but the entire exhaust? Hmmmm....0 -
They said it had gone at the front and the back.......and that I needed a new cat.........0

How did they end up in a position to check your exhaust?
Is it blowing? Or making odd noises? Are you down on power?0 -
I had a flat tyre and dropped exhaust when travelling home. The AA man said that my exhaust needed looking at so I asked ATS to check it out as the AA had dropped me off there. .......0
