ACF Car Finance

Hi

I am in the process of escalating my complaint to ACF (or The Funding Corporation who provided the finance) as they have claimed that as they were not a member of General Insurance Council until 2005 they do not have to respond to my claim.

At present FOS are lookign at my case but state that they need the details of the insurance underwriters the ACF/The Funding Corporation.

I do not have any docs relating to the PPI GAP or Mechanical Breakdown insurance. I cannot actiually remember receiving any of this documentation although my finance agreement clearly shows me signing for it.

Does anyone have any idea who the underwriters would have been around 2003 / 2004 time so that I can update FOS or how I can find out?

    Hi and welcome

I would write to the lender/broker for the policy details and the info you require of the insurers/underwriters would be enclosed on the policy.

Many of us are in the same situation as yourself, mine is actually with the FOS now in regards of the insurer.
And many others are too and/or going this direction.

I actually requested for the policy details from the lender, and they should provide them to you on request, the FOS then will also be able to have a copy from you if your case ends up going to them against the insurer.

Good luck, please keep us posted.:)

I believe underwriters where AXA (GAP) & Norwich Union (PPI)
    Hope some use to you
  • GAP insurance must be the biggest RIP off of all time and in my experience is not sold by the high street banks so maybe they do have a heart even if it's not beating.

If you call FOS they should advise you of the best way forward but it does depend on the person dealing with your case, some are really helpful whereas others are sinking in the mountain of claims they have to deal with. Why don't we get more people in jobs i.e. processing the backlog of claims for FOS quicker, getting us our money back quicker and providing some temp jobs. None of the leading parties have thought of that one LOL

  • Hi
Thanks to all of you - Got no policy docs as cannot find them, not sure any were actually sent to me. Have written to request insurers details so will update when I hear back. Nice to see someone is getting somewhere & I know it can be a long haul.
