Romantic week away, ideally a cottage

Heya everyone.

OH and I have been together for a year and a half but we both really need a holiday and this will be out first holiday together so we would love for it to be romantic.

Ideally we would like a cottage for a week so that we could explore the surrounding towns and villages etc but 4-5 days would be fine too.

OH doesn't want anywhere that's within easy reach of home. He wants somewhere that is 2+ hour drive away. (We live in the Bristol area).

We don't really mind where we go tbh. We just need some time to ourselves.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I tried a google search but so many different websites come up. It's kind of overwhelming.:o

Thanks in advance. :)

Griffon Forest has been mentioned on here a few times up north of York. We stayed there about 5/6 years ago and had a great break. All lodges have hot tubs and set amongst a forest with bike and walking trails

Google the name and website comes up

    oterh websites to check
    try hoseasons lodges
maybe holidaylettings.co.uk for lots of owner manged lettings everywhere

Be surprised if those two alone don't give you what you are after

A cottage in the lake District could be very romantic, West coast of Wales,Snowdonia area -away from it all and rugged and wild

    Good luck!

You can't beat Pembrokeshire - although I'm biased!
South of the county around Tenby if you want a bit more 'life', or come up north for totally unspoilt, wild scenery with deserted beaches.

We stayed here at the aptly named "Love Cottage" for our 10th wedding aniversary. Quite a quirky layout as you go through the bedroom to get to the sitting room, but not a problem as it is just the two of you. The bedroom is really fab with a four poster, and a double spa bath. We had a lovely time. Incidently we found the cottage as friends of ours booked it for their honeymoon and recommended it.

I'd second Pembrokeshire. It's so beautiful and unspoilt. I've been plenty of times but one year we rented a little place by the beach at and there was hardly anyone else around. Lots of beautiful places to see without there being too many people around.

Pembrokeshire gets my vote as well. We're also in Bristol and it's about a 2.5 - 3 hr drive but mostly not dull motorway driving.

We've stayed here before and Saundersfoot is lovely:

We've not stayed here but have used their spa and again, it was really nice:

Don't know when you're planning on going but we've had some lovely weekends down there at this time of year when it's quiet but the weather can still be glorious (if a bit chilly!).

We are in the Bristol area as well and would suggest the Gower Peninsular in South Wales. It is absolutely beautiful and unspoilt and probably just over 2 hours from home. Loads of stunning beaches to go for romantic walks on.

We stayed at Broadway Cottage, LLangennith (Google it) and it was lovely.

Otherwise what about North Cornwall? Rock and Padstow are lovely with some fantastic beaches.

If you're prepared to take the trek up to the Snowdonia National Park, this cottage is absolutely beautiful http://www.cottage-break.com/gwynedd/ty-fferm-cwm-pennant-nr-porthmadog

    Heya everyone. :)

Sorry I hadn't been back to update!

We've decided to go to Cornwall as we've both wanted to go for a while. :)

We only have a limited budget so this is the place we've booked: http://www.classic.co.uk/holiday-cottage/desc-2284.html

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. :)
