Hi
On the main computer i renewed the Norton antivirus on line ,
.
but as I got my lap top just before xmass which came with McAfee security which is about to come to end and they are asking for me to renew on line at a cost of £40.
My question is there a way I can cover both with the Norton as I have paid for that already or do I have to do them both separate

Depends if the Norton version you bought covers 1 machine or several.
You'd have done much better to ditch both and buy somethingdecent like Kaspersky which woud cover 3 machines for less than either Norton or McAfee.
If you must use either of these products, never renew on expiry, as they invariably charge about double what it would have cost to buy the new product.
PS: Kaspersky is currently free for 3 PC's if you use Barclays Online Banking. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi
£33.90 for the 3 user which I think is a good price http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002BWPWQM/ref=s9_al_bw_t8?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1THZ869KNTMNMVVMG1MX&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=144512887&pf_rd_i=3004350 -
Don't pay anyone anything.
There are several excellent antivirus and security programs available on the internet for free - and they update automatically every day at no cost.
Have a look round this board and at
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/free-anti-virus-software
or other computer-help boards for advice and recommendations, but don't pay £40 for a facility that is freely available elsewhere.0 -
You should be able to get a 2009 Kasperky Internet Security for about £15 + p&p for 3 PCs. After installation, just upgrade it to the 2010 version for free via the Kaspersky web site (if you can be bothered). Both versions will be using the current AV databases - and that's what matters.
You might have trouble getting rid of the existing McAfee and/or Norton. They don't uninstall cleanly in most cases and you'll have to get a copy of their 'clean up' program and run that before attempting to install another AV program: MCPR.exe for McAfee, Norton_Removal_Tool.exe for Norton/Symantec. They are available from the relevant manufacturer's websites but not well advertised there. Try Googling for their names if you can't find them.
Don't go down the Free AV route. They're just not up to the job and, for about £6 a year per machine, it's simply not worth the risk.0 -
In your opinion?Don't go down the Free AV route. They're just not up to the job and, for about £6 a year per machine, it's simply not worth the risk.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
AV's are for amateurs. However, if you need one, get Eset Nod 32.
The best security can be achieved without any software. Start at the router and then configure your windows.0 -
