in Credit cards
hi,sorry if this is in wrong section firstly, right ive been a lloyds tsb customer for about 6 years and had their duo airmiles cards for about 2 and 1/2 years with no problems whatsoever and always paid on time and in full regardless if it was £7 or£700,anyway due to moving in with my girlfriend the nearest bank to her was abbey so i switched accounts and the advisor said did i want also to move credit cards as well which i did but after 2 months there was still no cards so i enquired and was told ive been refused as i have a low credit rating which i find impossible as ive never defaulted on any of the cards ive had,now im getting all these emails from cards like vanquis telling me i can get my rating back up if i use their cards wisely, what i would like to know is how my rating fell down from one week having two £6000 limit cards to having a low rating, also is there a place i can go to(in glasgow)to talk to someone face to face about this as ive tried experian but they want utility bills etc and as its my girlfriends house they are all in her name,i honestly feel like begging lloyds to take me back as i really need the cards for flights 2/3 times per year, thanks tony

To be honest mate one of the biggest things banks look at when applying for new credit is stability in addresses, are you on the elec roll at your girlfriends house,0

It's not so massively incomprehensible though...
Basically, you had a Lloyds TSB current account, and then after 4 years of holding it they gave you a Lloyds TSB credit card.
Then you moved and applied for an Abbey current account - which you got, and straight away applied for an Abbey credit card - which was declined.
Abbey didn't have the 4 years record of you being an existing customer that Lloyds had. Also your recent move and not being on the electoral register probably didn't help things.
I can't see why Lloyds TSB wouldn't accept you back? Perhaps you should request to re-open your account?
Did you know you can bank over the counter at Post Offices with Lloyds TSB? (Pay in cheques / withdraw cash without charge / pay in cash / etc...)0 -
i rememeber leaving my bank and rejoining them wanting my current account back, and they credit scored me again, you need to get on the elec roll, think about it would you lend someone money who are not registered at there address if you were a bank..and they do like you to have been there for at least one year,0

Vanquis aren't too bad - as long as you pay off what you put on in full, or near as, cos the interest rates on some are HUGE** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

If you can't get a Lloyds again - I'd personally be more swayed towards the Capital One Classic - it's a sub-prime card like Vanquis, but it's Capital One and the cardholder services/benefits are much better (even though either card would offer Section 75 protection).
There is a list of the cardholder features of a cap one classic here http://www.credit-card-comparison-on.../capital-one/classic.asp - it offers a lot for a sub-prime card, including purchase protection (in addition to Section 75 and access to your equifax credit reports if you want to monitor improving your credit score).0 -
