Hello
I recently purchased and installed windows xp from amazon - but now i get a message from microsoft saying that activation failed/get genuine/you may be victim of software counterfeiting - or words to that effect.
Is this serious? Should i uninstall/reinstall? or just leave it alone?
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks

Was it from amazon themselves or one of their 3rd party sellers? If you are sure it is genuine select the telephone option for activation and go through the motions, if it is still not successful you'll be put through to an Indian call centre who will be able to manually activate it for you."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Pretty sure it was the main amazon shop - will have to flag out the receipt - do you know what details i need?0

A lot of people get that message..
Just use the telephone authentication.. I always do anyway as if it fails they can give more details as to why and then investigate.
EDIT: You don't need to uninstall/reinstall or anything.. though if it isnt' activated after 30 days you won't be able to login anymore.
When speaking to microsoft all you need is the license code you'd been given. Only if its fake then you will have to give details of where its bought from inc receipts etc.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
