i reserved an LG 42" lcd full hd tv via argos' website on friday. the site said there were none available for home delivery but one in store for pick up. so off we went to town on saturday to fetch our tv. however after queueing we were told the tv was only available for home delivery. a pradox the sales assistant was unable to solve after three attempts on her till. we guessed the one remaining mystery tv must be the display model which she was unable to sell to us. she told us there was nothing she could do and we should keep trying on the website.
well we don't do that in our house...once we fail with a retailer we go elsewhere.
so i suggested our local co-op electrical department. after a brief hastle free browse round the tv section we found a 42" samsung plasma with more features for the same price as the LG. happy we were within our £500 budget (the tv was on offer at £499) we purchased the samsung and i got to use my co-op membership card too.
so we are very displeased with argos for their general lack of positive help and cannot praise co-op enough for having what we wanted at the price we wanted to pay.

What does the co-op membership card do?Jan Wins: .0

its a loyalty scheme where you can collect points when you spend like with tesco. the payout however depends on the co-ops performance and is a dividend based on profits hence the term membership. you pay a pound for the card and that gives you one share in the co-op. its better explained hereWins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320

We bought a three piece suite from Co-op and joined the scheme. The sales lady put the sale through a couple of days late so we were in the double points weekend and we ended up with an extra £120 to spend later! Oh and the suite was a good deal too.0

unless argos has changed its policy since i worked there - it WAS four years ago - no tv over 32" was stocked in store. but i didnt work at an extra store so may be they stock them. did you reserve the item? or just did the stock checker? if you reserve the item then it should have been available for you - if you had reserved it then you should speak to the store manager.0

I know some of the TVs Argos sell have a catalogue number for home delivery and another for store pickup and you need to use the right one depending on how you want it. I wonder if the cashier was trying to put through the one for home delivery.0

I saw someone pick up a 42'' LG today from Argos. It's not an extra store.0
