Cheap beach-side homes around £2000?

A few months ago I came across a Sussex operated holiday homes developer that offered houses starting at around £2000 (up to anywhere around £40k). These aren't homes that are suitable for all year around accommodation. The money you pay gives you the home on a 20 year lease (I think) and lets you accommodate it between March and November. These houses are located in a very friendly neighbourhood and are close to the beach.
I was even in touch with the company and it seemed like something I really wanted to invest in a few years down the line but now I lost the brochures they sent me and have lost all communication with them. I don't think they are a property developer, I think they just buy run down properties (more like cottages) and renovate them. The really cheap prices I mentioned are for those homes that are sold without the renovation. I hope someone here knows what I am talking about.
It doesn't need to be in Sussex but what I saw was based in Sussex.

Wow! I'm guessing the price is due to the fact that the leasehold expires in 15 years? Still sounds like a pretty good deal, 15 years' use of a holiday cottage for £6,000. Not exactly an investment though!0 -
