School Problem

DD (12) has had a few problems with being bullied at school, including being physically injured and ending up at the hospital with a neck injury. The culprit received no punishment because he said a reluctant sorry when told to by the Pastoral Manager. DD does as instructed and reports bullying to this PM, and quite a lot of it centres around the fact that her Dad died two years ago. I have just found out that this PM was discussing my DD with two of her friends on Friday, and said that my DD is 'irrational'. I am fuming that the PM sees fit to discuss DD with her peers, and more so that she used this term. Am I being unreasonable? What would other parents do about this? Thx!

I'd ask to see their policy on bullying, every school should have one, and I'd complain to the head & the governors if it hasn't been followed.

Is this the first time the school has become involved? There is perhaps some merit in trying to solve things with the gentle approach the first time around. What else would you like to have seen happen?

I hate these acronyms, they are almost as annoying as text speak :s

If it feels like bullying to her it is bullying, and the physical injuries back it up. To be honest I'd be after the "Pastoral Manager's" job for failing in his/her duty of care.

Speak to the Headmaster, follow up your conversation in writing. Threaten legal action if they continue to fail their duty of care over your daughter. To be honest, I would have gotten the police involved at the point of hospitalisation.

The fact that your daughter has been to hospital means you have "evidence" that this is a very serious and ongoing issue. The school HAVE to take this very seriously and if they don't, the local papers would probably be interested in running a "scandal" story which would cause no end of problems for the school.
  • Sorry to hear of the problem, Joe. Bullying is always nasty. Did you really mean to post this in the Credit Cards forum? You may get more useful responses if you ask elsewhere.

    Good luck!

I think she needs to get tough and stand up for herself to stop the bullying otherwise she'll be walked over all her life.
Alternatively as you're in the credit card forum, obtain a new card and pay for her to go on a nice long holiday !

What the f*** is "DD" and why's it being discussed in a credit card forum?

Unless it's Direct Debit of course.

And no idea what PM is either except for Prime Minister.

I'm very scared that people are becoming dumber by the day in the UK.

No its silly people using silly abbreviations

    DD = Darling Daughter

    Its all over these forums

    Daring husband Darling son

Why they just can't put Husband or Daughter or Son

QUOTE "I'm very scared that people are becoming dumber by the day in the UK".

    Never a truer statement said

Thank you, I feel much better now that I know this :) I wonder if it's my responsibility to find these things out myself? Where does it end though?

It's still a watering down of intelligence and this makes the our new sprogs even dumber.

We'll all be speaking French next! :p

Don't take me the wrong way - i was refering to the moral judgement in the responses, not the orignal post!

    I couldn't agree more - I've been bullied myself and it's horrible....

you could say this post's in the wrong place, but if there's people on here you consider friends, then maybe it isn't......
