Seller unwilling to move furniture

My partner and I are about to exchange on a property that has been used as a holiday let. We would like to complete as soon as the last tenant moves out and we effectively have vacant possession (21st August). However, the sellers now say they will not be in the country at that time, and therefore can't remove their furniture. We have suggested they use a removal company to remove and store it for them, but they don't want to do that because they don't want to keep the furniture. They want to have a house sale to get rid of it, but say they are unavailable to come to the property to sell the furniture. Personally I think second-hand furniture that's been used and abused by holidaymakers for a few years is worth diddly squat, but they obviously don't see it that way. They want US to find a solution for their furniture, and preferably to buy it off them, but we don't want it! We made our offer on this house on 9th January (endless problems with conveyancing) and my furniture has been in storage since the beginning of April, and my partner's flat is being sold to tie in with the hoped-for completion date of 21st August. What are our options? Do we have to wait until the seller can find time to remove their rubbish?

Suggestions welcome please!!

The obvious solution is that they ask the estate agent to arrange a removal and storage for them so that the place is cleared.

Yes I would be speaking to the EA's and solicitors to get a removal company to take it away for them.If they want to have a house sale they had better organise it quickly and get someone to do it for them. It's not down to you and you want to have a house cleared of all their stuff

Speak to the solicitor, its nothing to do with the EA. What has been put on the fixture & fittings list? Ask your solicitor to put a clause in the contract or get an undertaking from the seller that the furniture will be removed. If it isn't you will bill them for the removal costs involved.
