I was looking at getting some flowers delivered for my mum but refused to pay £35 - £40 for a fairly small bunch that I could get from the florist for about £15 if I collected them myself.

I ended up getting her a voucher for a pamper day at a health club near us.... I put the voucher in the middle of a pack of 2 ironing board covers off the market so can't wait to see her face when she first opens it :D

You should have asked for a £10 voucher and that would have sorted that :D

Good luck in finding something though, if you're anything like me when it comes to buying stuff for people you'll have no idea what to get.

Ordered my MIL a flowering plant arrangement from Next for Mothers Day a couple of years ago, and it was delivered upside down (despite being clearly labelled 'This way up'). It was wrecked. We were abroad on holiday at the time. MIL had the presence of mind to realise it had cost a lot of money, and so rang them to politely express her disappointment. They sent her a replacement.
Guess what? Yep, delivered upside down, completely wrecked.
I haven't bought a thing from Next since.

I stopped buying from Next when I registered for their site to buy a t-shirt (Danger Mouse of all things :D) and realised that i'd actually taken opened a credit account. My own daft fault really for not reading things properly.
