Hi All,
Trying to pluck up the courage to phone the cccs. As everything is going wrong. We have missed a mortgage repayment and gone over the credit cards, and over draft I have set up arrangements with everyone trying to pay them back a little bit at a time, it just seems that we think we have got there and we haven't. Got no money well £3 pound on me, need petrol in car so I can get home feel like crying.
Have taken on extra job but don't get paid for that until the end of August. husband has spoken to the bank today, but with what has been setup can't get no money until Friday. Feeling like a right old failure, embrassed the whole works.
Got my sister's wedding in 2 weeks time, got no money to buy present, OH needs a suit, the in laws are coming to still in 3 weeks need a bed for the room that they are going to stay where does it end.
feeling very low at the moment

Hi wanttobedebtfreenatty, I felt so sick the first time I phoned CCCS but they are so nice they make you feel at ease, don't judge and get things started right away by telling you what you need to do now. I know it's difficult but please do call, you will feel so much better for it - I promise :-)
Try freecycle for someone who might be able to give you a bed free of charge which would take care of the inlaws staying.
You could try ebay for a pressie for your sister and a suit for OH or OH could rent one which would cost less or it could be borrowed.
I know it's hard but you have made a start by acknowledging you need help.
Hugs to you.

Hiya,
I can’t really add anything to what WBMF has said, but you have taken a very brave step by seeking help, you have done nothing wrong and have nothing to feel guilty or ashamed about.
Please call CCCS on 0800 138 1111 today and get yourself booked in for a review with a counsellor, it is not scary, we do not judge and I promise you will sleep better after the call.
In the mean time it is important to contact your mortgage company and work something out with them directly, we can’t do this for you I’m afraid and your home is the most important thing you need!
Good luck sweetie, And if you need anything just shout, we are all here and at least 1 of us will know the answer to any questions you might have

Thanks you two for your kind words. I will phone the cccs. I have phone the mortgage company and we are paying an extra £150 a month, that is the only amount they would agree on. I still think it is too much.
OH is going to hire the suit, then my sister said oh good, he can wear the same as the others the suit £75 to hire. Trying to get hold of her to say that we just can't afford that so he is going to look stupid with all the boys in the same suit and not him.
I do have a loan which I haven't missed any payments of, that finishes in November so will free up £295.Month June 06 current debt stands at: Loan with OH £20,000, Egg Card £7324 now £7191.00, Barclaycard £700, Overdraft was £2550 now £2400, Car Loan £297 a month finishes in Nov 06, £9.00 Savings, Piggysbank points 3700 -
Once you have phoned cccs it will be like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. There job is to help you and be there for you. As well as DFW being here for you too.
Do you have a hobby like cross stitchwhere you could make a sampler as a present. I did this a couple of years ago for one of my husband work colleagues. Already had the fabric and threads. And they raved about it loved.
What about getting photos of your sister and make a this is your life type book as a pressie. Will last much longer than a toaster.
All the best.
Yours

Hi,
I've just posted on another board about CCCS - I got on the phone and then burst into tears! The girl was lovely and felt so much better afterwards! It was kinda hard to say the figures out loud but you'll feel loads better! Good luck! xxx0 -

OH won't look stupid at all, I'm sure there will be other men there with many, many different suits. I'm sure if you explain the situation to sister she will totally understand or maybe offer to pay for the suit hire!

Could you get the same suit at a different supplier for less? Or maybe they would hire for a few hours rather than days? Just a thought!DFW Nerd no: 149

Hang on in there-you've done well to keep up the loan by the sounds of it and only a few more months until you get shot of it.
Definately speak to CCCS as others have said-when my mum got into trouble a few years ago, they were absolutely brilliant. They don't judge you and can really help.
Btw, I have a comfy double air bed-do you want to borrow it? I can post it to you no trouble. Even if you swap rooms for the short time your in-laws are there, it will save you buying a bed if you can't get one on freecycle.
Good luck with the CCCS, you will feel so much better after you speak to them:)Proud to be Dealing with my Debts:D

Chin up :j I know what you're going through, i've just posted for the first time today and i'm feeling down after seeing all the figures on the screen in front of me. I don't think it matters how big or small the debt is, everyone goes through the same emotions but as everyone said to me, at least you are facing up to the problems (whether you want to or not).
Don't worry about the wedding, weddings aren't as formal as they used to be plus, (and i mean this in a nice way) everyone will be watching the bride and groom, not the ushers.
Hope things get easier from here for you.0
