Okay so if you've been checking these boards you'll notice i aint having much luck with laptops at the mo.
Thanks to everyone that helped re the advent laptop and i'll reply to that thread when i've attempted to sort the bios (hopefully sometime this week if i can ever get online at home again).
Anyways i've got a 18 month Compaq laptop which has been working fine until the hott weather kicked in.
Now it seems to be switching itself off after so long, problem been the time changes.
I thought that maybe it would be down to it over heating but it did it twice lastnight after just 10 minutes.
I've checked the bios etc and there isn't an options to change the heat/fan settings.
I've not sure of the model number as i'm at work again.. but any ideas would be greatefully appreciated.
Has anyone had any experience with a cooling pad for laptops ? my local computer shop is doing them £30 which seems a bit much but if its the only way to stop it over heating i'll prob be willing to invest..

I had a Compaq M700 which kept shutting down, in the end it wouldn't start at all either on the battery or the mains, so I gave up and bought a HP OmniBook 4500, 3 weeks later, it got stolen, so I've bought a desktop for the time being.0
