cigarette burn on upvc window

hi all

left 18yr old ds home alone last week on strict instructions not to have anyone round (again) .....

amongst a long list of unpleasant finds is a cigarette burn on the upvc window at the front of the house

any ideas on removing/disguising/reducing it???? not feeling too optimistic but would welcome any advice

I have used a product called "Wurth Type 10 cleaner".

The type 20 cleaner is a less aggressive version.

It basically slightly dissolves the top layer of the pvc. It is designed to remove the top layer and therefore the damage. Its a good cleaner BUT you need to read the instructions and if you don't know what you are doing consult a professional. As with all these things, results depend on the initial damage.

BE WARNED THIS PRODUCT CAN DO DAMAGE IF YOU DON'T ADHERE TO THE INSTRUCTIONS!!

Probably worth a look on ebay?

Er... I wouldn't trust Ebay for these things as it would be illegal to send corrosive chemicals through the post. You would have to go and collect it. Contact Wurth themselves for stockists.

Has the burn actually penetrated and caused an indentation?

Locally we have a 'Magic Man'. They come and fix marks, dents, scratches etc on laminate worktops, acrylic baths, upvc doors / windows etc. They have dome a little bit of work for me and you would never know that there had been a dent.

    Might be worth investigating.

oh thanx so much for ur replies....

tbh it looks worse than it is, just run my finger across it and it has made a small dent, but the cigarette has been held into the corner of the frame so there are 2 corrosponding burns....

i will look into the above suggestions

    much appreciated
