Supermarket Car Park 'Touch' - Am I Being Stitched Up?

Perhaps counter claim - could his car have rolled back into yours????
I assume that there was a line defining the two spaces - were you within your line?
If you are sure then I would stand my ground on principle - people claiming like this add to premiums for all of us0 -
Also if his claim is successful your premium will still rise next year. Even if your NCB remains in tact your base premium will rise as you are now a bigger risk0

We have news. Oh rang the insurers today, they hadn't heard from the other side by the deadline, but called them whilst he was on the phone. They've dropped the claim

We're made up- we were prepared to argue the toss all the way as we know we didn't hit anything.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -

There was a scam a while ago where someone was causing accidents by braking suddenly at a roundabout so innocent drivers would run into the back of him.......
How can you "innocently" run into the back of someone?
"carelessly" is a better definition as it means they were driving too close.0 -

If I remember correctly, they wired up a switch so they could disengage the brake lights. They'd start to move off, the car behind would follow and be unable to react quickly enough when the car in front braked.
I get the point about being too close, but next time you're at a roundabout have a look around and see how many drivers could stop if a criminal in front of them braked suddenly, unnecessarily and without warning.
And apologies to the OP for going waaaaaaay off topic
Edit: I've found this link to the news story about this. The guy caused 93 car crashes and claimed around £17,000 each :eek:0 -
Just another "who's telling the truth thread"
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
This is not good news for the OP. The problem here is that although the OP has NCD protection with the current insurer, they will still need to make mention of this event should they wish to change insurer, I would think. This could adversely affect the premium offered by an alternative insurer. Although if the other party should withdraw their claim, then I wonder if it may be classed as a non-event?
It seems to me that it's a bit of a grey area going forward. If you didn't declare it to a future insurer and you needed to make a claim, then not declaring this might invalidate the insurance. I guess the sensible thing to do is to seek clarification on this issue with the current insurer.
I always err on the side of scepticism with insurers. The first thing they do when they get a claim in is to scan the smallprint in order to ascertain if they can avoid it.0 -
When I went with my current insurer I had to inform them of the claim I detailed above in post 19 (as it was still ongoing) when it was finally dropped they wanted a letter from my previous insurers confirming that it had been dropped and no funds paid out - they then removed it completely from their records.
Your mileage may however differ
Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
datostar - did you bump this guy's car, yes or no?
Not to my knowledge - he claims mine was 'touching' his when he came back. Perhaps it was, I don't know because he had left before I came back. I still can't see how 'touching' causes £200 of damage to one car and leaves the other completely unmarked, let alone damaged.0
