Write to them. Set out the dates and events. Make it clear that you cancelled and therefore no contract exists. Send the letter by recorded delivery.
If you cancelled by phone, it is possible that the cancellation was not actioned, and therefore there is no proof that you did indeed cancel if there was no log made of the call - so the charges stand. That's why it's important to write.
File the bill away (no need to pay) and then wait for a response.0 -
Distance Selling Regulations give you a 7 days cooling off period.
You cancelled within 7 days (and have written proof thereof).

Does that apply to both online and telephone sign up Heinz?Buying online from shops or suppliers
The purchase of goods and services over the internet, by phone or by mail order generally is subject to the Distance Selling Regulations. One of the most important implications of these regulations is a cooling off period of 7 days during which you have the right to cancel.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Just ring them up they will realise their mistake. Call plans start at the end of the call on BT's systems hence the charge. Give a BT rep an email or something.0
