New build house not appearing on talk talk database?

Hi,
Was wondering if anyone could advise us regarding a problem we have with moving to a new build house!

We are moving in a couple of weeks time and have been trying to organise installation of a new phone line and a telephone and broadband package. The problem we have had is our house address was not appearing on the post office database. We have now rectified this and it is definitely appearing on there however when we have phoned talk talk (who offer the best package for what we need) the address does not appear and they have directed us back to the post office or bt! Our address appears at both of these but not on talk talks. Does anyone know how we can get round this or alternatively how long it would talk to appear with talk talk? When we asked this of talk talk we got different answers each time and they have said anything from a week to months-and it's out of their hands!!!

    My guess is Talk Talk periodically buy in a disc of the Royal Mail postcode database. If they do that annually, their list of addresses will always be at least a year out of date.

    If they refuse to manually insert your address into their systems for the purpose of accepting your order, there's nothing you can do - you will just have to go to a provider which either has a more up-to-date postcode system or which will manually enter your new address.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Talk Talk need to manually add the address to the system. new build connections take around 15 working days and the more information you give the company the easier it is to arrange the connection. The company can manually create the address based on the address the royal mail have and set up a line as a 'Bronze' address. That basically means there is no record of any previous service there. The person you would have spoken too will just be poorly trained.

    Thanks-will give that a try tomorrow! You'd think they would want our business!

    took nearly 2 yrs before our new build started appearing on everything its a nightmare if u want credit but bt can input the data manually as can most companies long as u have previous address
