Where to find a girls elasticated grey school skirt?

Options
I need a new school skirt for my daughter but I'm having real trouble finding ones that fit! She's 7 but is a bit tubby round the middle and also short for her age (not majorly short but always the smallest in her class)
This means that any normal skirt that will fit her round the waist is far too long, i've tried all sorts but nothing fits, they never seem to have enough stretch in them :(
I have an ideal skirt for her that is elasticated all the way round, almost stretches twice the size! but have only the one and as it was bought a couple of years ago it no longer fits well. Has anyone got any ideas where I can get another one please?
ps, I got the skirt from a market car boot and there is no label so stuck for ideas on that front.
many thanks, michelle.

I have the opposite problem with my daughter (4) and have resorted to gymslips as they have no proper waist fitting. Could this work?

Alternatively, buy an older aged skirt and hem it.

Asda (George) still have school uniforms, maybe that can be a help and yes as Mrcow has said next size up and bring up the hem

I ended up doing gymslips/pinafore dresses with my short daughter - though this winter she's changed to trousers (with a load lopped off the end) and after easter she'll be in gingham dresses to avoid the hastle with skirts

Sainsbury's sell a skirt that allows you to alter the waist line - my girls are the opposite and I have trouble getting skirts that are long enough - but going up a size and the waist is to big! May be worth a look :)
  • BHS do a generous fit range and I believe they are very good.

    Hi,
My 5 year old step daughter has the same prob, although she is average height she is very tubby round the middle so none of the high st shops school skirts fitted her. We ended up going to a 'proper' school outfitters where we got her 2 navy pleated skirts, elasticated all the way round and as they are very stretchy we could buy nearer her age size so the length was not too bad and didn't need adjusting. Also, the prices weren't anywhere near as expensive as i thought they would be. £6 for each skirt, lots of colours too.
    Hope that helps.
