Phone, Internet, Tv - NTL or who else?

Hi there.
I have always been advised to go with NTL as they have attractive packages which cover cable tv (inc prem chans), fast internet and a good phone package.
I just found out though its minimum 12 months and they won't do it for only the 9 I'll be living for..
Can anyone advise on what's the best thing to do?
Thanks

well the only other cable company is Telewest, however i suspect they will have a 12 month min. aswell.
you could always just pay the penalty after 9 months.... have a look and see how much it is
otherwise you could just live with freeview and get cheap internet and use a voip phone with something like skype.
of course you dont get the premium channels, but if your at uni you should be studying anyway

i'd just buy a freeview box and live with those channels, then get cheap broadband and phone - homecall used to be very competitive but i'm not sure if their custoemr service has improved, it was quite bad.
(i don't even have freeview and watch far too much tv on 5 channels!):happyhear0 -
Hmm its all my room mates pressuring to get NTL ya see. Including that its still cheaper than the halls so it is tempting.
If theres no 9 month option, will have to go for the full 12 I suppose!
The other good thing about it is that its all in one! Dont have to mess around with loads of diff bills etc[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Hi,
I'm wary of these all-in-one deals because my sister became ill. had to give up work & has just got her benefits through, separated from her fiance and my niece who has a year old baby, had run up a phone bill to her fiance's mobile of a few hundred pounds. Two months ago she lost all the services! This is just a think twice before you jump thought;)

grab a freeview box
bt line, CPS Primus Telecom (free) and use dial prefix 1899.
Broadband ... determine how much you use it and pick the best fitting one. Don't need to buy a big connection if you don't do music/film downloading all the time and play games.0 -
The first thing you need to find out is what telephone line is in the premises at the moment. If you have to install a new BT line it will cost £125 which is a big consideration

Best bet is to read the Telephone Boards for advice and suggestions.0 -
Beware of NTL expensive phone call charges. (They charge 6p connection on most calls before you start). Then if you need to contact Customer Service your now faced with their expensive ngn contact number.
Lord Chris. NT Hell and Teleworst are now the same company!!!0 -

NTL give free calls to landlines during off peak. As i'm the "organiser" in the house I'll make sure that no one uses the phone during peak for like mobiles and things as using free minutes is going to be much cheaper.. then people can just pay for the calls they make..
As long as we write down who we call then there wont be a problem!
As for expensive customer service.. saynoto0870 has an 0800 alternative i think.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

are you then having the contract in your name?!
if so, make sure someone else has the gas and someone different the electricity. however friendly you are with your housemates, if people don't pay you back then it gets ugly - best to avoid any potential problems!:happyhear0 -

My sister had problems with the elec being in her name..
So I'm going to try and get everyone else to sign for things.. Pete for NTL, Chris for Elec etc etc...
Hopefully if I arrange it all they'll happily let me use their name....
