So how long did you have to wait??????

I had a phone call from a HSBC underwriter yesterday who was good enough to amend my no claims bonus entitlement certificate.
I also asked him whether he was happy that delays occur unnecessarily when
repairs have to be carried out.Vehicle accidents were discussed only.
He did say that they try to make it a priority for the customer to keep all repairs ,in house and that the courtesey car costs are kept to a minimum.

I recently had a non fault accident and the Vauxhall main dealer bodyshop did say that insurance companies cantake ages to sort things out even for the most simple of accidents.
It sounds like in my case £1475 damage + £900 approx hire car costs + assessor report cost (unsure).

Ok the challenge is simple...I waited 22 days to get my car back(and I was doing all the running, phoning etc)It was a simple n/s wing and bumper replacement(inc other holding bits plus suspension check)Zafira 2003
Garage said they didn't get the go ahead until day 17.
The insurance company was Royal and Sun alliance(Liverpool)The other person's insurer.Hoping it would be quicker....haha

Are we short of insurance assessors?
If the company transferred the operation to India would it be quicker?

Surely from day three of me reporting the accident one could have been despatched for report.I wait for my complaint to be answered as I have written to them.Got to wait 28 days for that they said.

How long did you wait for repairs to be carried out?

Where you using one of the insurance companies approved repairers or one of your own choosing.

With our approved garages most have delegated authority so for the minor damage you describe could have got on with the work without an engineer inspection. If an engineer inspection is required then they work in the garage every other day so at most it would have been on day 2 of your vehicle having been taken in to the garage.

If you decide to delay the process by using a garage of your own choosing then we need to wait to receive a copy of the estimate. This will normally be faxed by a garage but they are rarely quick at doing it as it has to be correctly written up etc. Once it has been faxed then realistically the "mail room" has to pick it up, find the file and give it to the case handler who may have a back log - so this adds a day or two. After this the engineer has to then contact the garage and arrange a date to come in and inspect the vehicle with them when he is next in the area. They are targeted to see all vehicles within 5 days of being passed the job.

Personally I have always used the approved repairer for all the insurers I have had claims with and in almost all cases the work has commenced within 3 days of the accident
