which hose reel is best?
I am looking for a new garden hose as the one I currently have isn't very good as the attachments keep popping off the end leaving me soaked. It is a rigid plastic one that gets kinks in it so the water won't go through it.
I've seen flat ones but they get rubbish reviews on amazon and the coiled ones look nice but I am not sure if they are any good. i am looking for something fairly cheap, hard wearing and idiot proof. Any ideas?

I've given up on all cheaper hoses and will only buy hozelock now. The hose will still break if you step on it and it freezes, but it's much better quality than anything else.
That's all I know, I'm sure someone else has more knowledge about it.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Flat ones are rubbish
How are you storing your hose, I wind back on to one that is attached to the wall .
Also its stored dry in the garage throughout the winter.0 -
Halfords have a cheap hozelock on offer

The ends dont like getting left in frost and they break. so when weather isnt very good take them off0

I will give that one from Halfords a look. the one I currently have is nearly 5 years old, lives outside all year abandoned in the garden so has served me quite well considering the neglect it gets. Having a reel to wind it round would encourage me to put it away rather than leave it lying around. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

Aldi are doing a flat one on a reel from next Thursday -at £9.99 I thought I might give it a go. It doesn't say so, but on the pic the reel looks to be made of a canvas type material."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I find the worst thing with hoses is the Kinking. Are the hozelock ones anti kink? I have had one on a reel for several years, the reel looks just like the hozelock one but I find it a bit cumbersome when it comes to reeling it in.0

Shandys handy anti kink Tip.
If you close the spray nozzle at the end of the hoze but leave the tap on at the wall, the pressure inside the hoze helps to stop it kinking while you roll it back onto the reel.
Then turn off the wall tap first and lastly open the spray nozzle to let out the pressure so it doesnt split if it freezez.
My hoze is the thin green plastic braided type and has been outside for 3 winters now. (I do have a brass spray nozzle though not a plastic one)“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0
