Popular website for private landlords?

My mother has sold her house and has got to be out in 3 weeks but is struggling to find anywhere to rent in the area. Is there a popular website that landlords use to advertise that don't use an agent? Everything advertised on rightmove/primelocation etc is unsuitable.
Thanks

why are rightmove properties unsuitable ?
  • In the past I've looked at torent.co.uk and letalife.com, and local newspapers

I think most of the properties are being advertised through agencies

Why can't you go via an agency? What are your plans if you can't find anything suitable in time?

There is a guy that owns almost every property in the area and he has a very bad reputation for repairs so doesn't want to be left with no heating or hot water WHEN the boiler breaks down and is selling all his properties so she doesn't want to be turfed out in 6 months having to move again and getting stuck with another lease as she is looking for a property to buy. Those of you that live in Kent will know who I'm talking about, he's discussed often on these boards.

Also she really needs a bungalow due to hip and back problems and struggles with baths so needs a shower. If she can't find anything she will be moving in with me  .

Trying to think of other places to look other as she's spoken to every local agent and there just isn't anything suitable and don't know where else to look for rentals other than rightmove/primelocation etc. There was a house in the local paper but the stairs were too steep for her to manage. Didn't know if there was a good website that lots of private LLs use that I haven't come across after my endless hours of googling.

D4mn4tions to the site this morning... twice I've posted on this thread and it's just failed.... so here we go again (copying it to clipboard before I post this time):

    - the Sun newspaper have classified advertising sections with good filtering options http://apartments.local.thesun.co.uk/ashford-sry-en/homes-for-rent/?q=bungalow&a=gbr%3Aen%3Aken%3Aashford|gbr%3Aen%3Aham%3Aashford|gbr%3Aen%3Ashr%3Aashford&inbs=1
    - website called letmatch.co.uk which is free for landlords and agents to advertise on.

    Good luck!

Have you got her on the housing list for OAP bungalows (council/housing association ones)? If she's on the list now, then at least she's on it ... rather than waiting another 10 years before she thinks of it and then finds she's right at the back of the queue.

Google her town/city and "Landlord association" , try the local Council's Private Rented Sector team/officer -some local Councils keep lists of "accredited" local LLs, put your own "wanted" ad up locally
