Hi,
I recently bought an Iphone through Amazon. However the seller stated he could save me £50 if I bypassed Amazon. I stupidly did this and paid by direct transfer. I am now out of pocket to the tune of £352 and after a month still have no phone! I have the persons account number and sort code, thats it! The police, Consumer Direct, Bank will not help me in any way. How can I obtain this persons name and address so that Consumer Direct will investigate? The only information I found was where his bank is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you stated to the police that you want to report it as a crime?
The bank would generally not provide you with the person's details, since it would be a breach of data protection. They will only release the details to the police, in response to a direct request.0 -
Firstly consumer direct and the bank will be of little use.
At this stage it is a civil matter of non delivery of product, potentially criminal depending on intent.
Small claims court is the way forward.0 -
And if the only address you have for the seller is his bank then you can probably use that as a c/o address on the claim form - banks are legally required to forward letters they receive for their customers.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
