coconut - which form to buy it in?

Our Tesco has Maggi powdered coconut milk in the Asian foods section (£1.99 for 350g), but it is three to four times the price of the KTC creamed coconut. HTH.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Apologies for bumping an old thread but as my question IS coconut related I thought it would save clogging up the board with a new thread!
I've had to buy 200g creamed coconut block for a curry I am making but the recipe only needs 25g.
The packet says it can keep for 3 days in the fridge but there is no way I'll use it in 3 days!
Am I able to freeze it?
If so, I can portion it up into recipe sized chunks.
I really don't wish to waste it.
Many thanks. Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.0 Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.0

Lots of things these days state that they'll only keep for a couple of days in the fridge. Personally, I think it's rubbish! Use your nose - have a sniff of it now and feel the texture of it when it is new, and then wrap it well and keep an eye on it in the fridge. You'll know if it has gone off
I often see large 400g blocks of Extra Mature Cheddar in the supermarket that say "use within 3 days". Why?? It's been maturing for 2 years already! It's not going to go off overnight 0 0

I think I've kept blocks of creamed coconut in the cupboard for months before without any problems so I wouldn't worry too much, well-wrapped in the fridge should be fine for quite some time! I expect it would freeze ok too - I freeze leftover coconut milk in icecube trays and it's fine, just chuck it straight in soups, curries etc.2012 is going to be my year - bring it on!:j0

Me too... shove back in box and leave til next time. I've had the stuff sitting in the fridge for a LOT longer than 3 days and I'm still alive."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0
