How to get smell out of handbag

Thanks EP. I'll give it a go. It's been hanging in the sunshine all day, and doesn't seem much better.0

Try putting some bicarbonate of soda in a muslin bag or tied up in a cotton hanky inside the handbag and leaving it for a day or two.

febreeze it
it may just be a case of leaving it to air for a few days where it has been packed a way so long :xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0 -
I would get the bicarb, has has been suggested, inside the bag and then seal in in a plastic bag and leave it for a couple of days, giving it a shake.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Do let us know what works powershopper - I merged your thread with the existing smelly handbag one, so you can see what others have done to sort out their smelly handbags

thanks

Hi - just bought one off Ebay - bargain at £3.50 icluding p&p and in great condition - BUT - stinks of cigarette smoke!
Have washed it in bubble bath a bit and put on line but I can still smell a bit - though not quite dry yet.
Anything I can do to sort it?
Would bicarb in a container inside work? Or cat litter - they say that sorts smelly shoes!
Don't want to have it reeking of perfume either.
Thanks in advance.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

Roll up some Newspaper, sprinkle paper very lightly with some Rose water (or Vinegar if it is very bad) and stuff inside bag, Zip it up and leave it somewhere warm for a day or two. The Vinegar or Rose smell will go in a day or two.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Thanks both - will definitely try all your suggestions. Just bunged some soap bars in it for tonight and will put outside tomorrow as well if its dry. Also thanks for the newspaper suggestion.
