Does OP have an account with the 2 banks that turned him down??
Does his salary go through those accounts??
If the answer to either is no - then that is the reason for the decline.
The days you could just walk into a bank as a new customer and get accepted for a personal loan are all but gone in most cases.0 -
OP, money lending and borrowing is merely a commercial arrangement agreed between parties. They don't agree with your terms. It doesn't make them enough money, especially when capital is scarce.
Offer to pay more interest to a lender and let us know how you get on.0 -

Yeah its a bit dramatic, but I know how the OP feels - I have a lot of equity in my house, have been on the electoral roll for years, have manageable debts which are always paid each month - have never missed a payment in my life for anything and yet I was recently refused a loan, and passed on to Harrington something-or-other, a sub-prime lending firm!! I felt extremely insulted because financial responsibility is something I take very seriously.
To be branded 'sub-prime' is in a way does feel like deformation of character because it implies that you are irresponsible with money and cant be trusted to be lent money, which I personally find a little bit offensive because I would sooner go and become an escort than miss a repayment to anyone who has trusted me to borrow money0 -
It's less about trust and more about them wanting to maximise profits by making sure they get the right type of customer.0
