hi, i want to buy a full size dishwasher but wondered how to install it..under my sink i have a hot and cold water tap ,,i have the washing machine attached to the coldwater one..so how would i get the dishwasher installed?
it would be about 5 foot away from the under sink taps on the other side of the room..
do i need to get a plumber in to do it as i don,t know where the cold water would be flushed out to...
does anyone know aprox how much a plumber will charge for fitting a dishwasher?thanks

Its normal to install a dishwasher where you have both a water supply and a waste water point. This is why they are normally near to the sink as both waste and supply are on hand. Moving it to the opposiate side of the room is fine proveded you can get the waste water into an existing waste water pipe.
As we can't see your set up you may be as wise to call a plumber and ask him to advise you and give you a price.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
You just need a cold feed for a dishwasher, teed off your existing rising main to the sink.
Normally the waste would discharge into the same outlet as your existing sink.
However if the dishwasher is the other side of your kitchen (on an opposite external wall?) then you would have to make separate arrangements to supply a cold feed and waste.
if you don't already have the supplies on that side of the kitchen then it's going to be quite a lot of work.No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you have cupboards right round from your sink to where you want to put the dishwasher, you should be able to run a feed and a waste pipe round in behind the cupboards kickspace, if you have suspended wooden floors you should also be able to pipe it across by lifting a trap in the floor and piping it over in beneath. Neither way is easy and the best place is as close to the sink unit as you can get it, is removing a cupboard near the sink unit and placing the dishwasher in its place an option?Norn Iron Club member No 3530

There would be no fixed price for installing a dishwasher. Every installation is different. Yours sounds a little more complicated than some, but by no means difficult. If you are not intending to do it yourself, then you need have no concern about how the installation would be achieved. Its a job that could be done by any competent DIYer or handyman, or obviously, a plumber. With most such installations the main problem is arranging the drainage. The water side of it is the easy part.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
