Bank with Natwest but the man says I can't get better account

Applied on line to get a currant acc rather than my step acc.

It asks if youv'e ever been bankrupt, which I was but on the 24th of march my six years will have past. The court details about my bankruptcy actually came off my file last week. So no record on either of my files.

Yet Nat West say because of bankruptcy no go, but if I go into my branch with my discharge papers I can have another step account.

Now I have held a step acc for five years and never overdrawn and also have had an e savings acc for over a year.

So much for customer loyalty.

Who will or would be likely to give me a big boys account?

Once it drops off you credit file (its probably too early still) even when they key yes to a previous bankrupcy they may still be able to offer a better account as your credit file will obviously be better.

If you answer 'yes' to that question the answer will always be the same.

Wait until after the 24th March then obtain copies of your credit files to confirm these no longer show on there..
Then go to a new bank and ask to open an account.

Not the case, there are plenty of previously bankrupt people with better accounts than a step with Natwest.
  • Put it this way, once it disappears from your credit files...have you ever been bankrupt? No.
