Approx 10 working days, so exclude the weekends, so you should have it by next week
  • About two weeks max - pin should come a day or two before.

    Thanks for the replies.

My card has now arrived. I have the "bank account" so not sure if its anything other than a normal account, and the card i have doesnt have a cheque guarentee on. Do Santander not do them? Or have i just not qualified for one?

I have one with my HSBC account.

    Thanks

If its a VISA Debit card that covers you upto £100. They no longer do a seperate cheque guarantee card.

If Santander are like any other bank, then the debit card will only have a cheque guarantee facility if it has the Shakespeare logo on the reverse. The OP seems to indicate the card does not carry this functionality.

According to the below article, Santander (formerly Abbey) are phasing out the cheque guarantee facility earlier than its industry wide 2011 withdrawal:-

Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.
  • I believe the 'bank account' is their full current account?

Do you have an overdraft or anything like that?

Santander don't issue Cheque cards anymore. Not since september last year If you had one on your account previous to this you can request one, but if you are a new customer they are not available. They are also currently in the process of phasing out visa electron, which is no longer available to new customers.
