A Pirates Party? In that case you could have a 'Treasure Hunt' to find the party bags. And don't forget to play 'Pass the P-arrrrrrhhhh-cel'

At age 8 children still love traditional party games eg pass the parcel, musical chairs. You can just adapt them slightly to involve a pirates theme. As far as food, mine just used to love cocktail sausages, mini sandwiches, chocolate biscuits etc. The same with party bags, a few penny sweets, a balloon and a piece of cake is sufficient IMO. The most important thing about giving a kids party is not to get caught up in a competitive issue about who gives the best/trendiest/most unique party. The kids will love it anyway!
Forgot to add, 99p shop/Poundland sell loads of party bags/party favours/plastic cups etc

    Xmas Saver!
Def agree, the usual party food, what I did with dds bday last yr was put the kids food into food boxes (15p each was a company found on Quidco), just that she had 30 children so saved wasteing food.

Party bags - totally agree with the other post, few penny sweets, ballon, coupld of knick nacks, and piece of cake.

Your in the bst position now, order in advance and sort out the items.

Do't know if u have a home bargains, nearby - just that I got a pirate stationary set £3.00 but spilt

    2 notepads
    4 pens
    2mini keyrings
    pirate stickers

I split the packet up nad made 2 boys bday presents, the notepads would be brilliant for pass the parcel and use the other bits for prizes. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Wilkinsons do a lot of party related bits and have things for pirates such as eye patches and things for princesses too. As for food I would go with the basics such as rolls, cakes sausage rolls etc
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Whatever you do do not employ any of the following

    littledivaz co uk
    girlspamperparties com
    pinkprincessparty co uk
    makeoverparties co uk
    pinklimoparties yolasite com

They are scams scam con sites run by Katie Brown
Why would anyone employ a company to arrange a birthday party for an 8 year old? Has the world gone mad?

I had a pirate party for my son and some of the things I did were:

invites - drew a treasure map with invite details on and copied onto old looking paper and rolled up and tied with ribbon
cake - made a pirate ship
games - played put the eye patch on the pirate, we also played a game like pass the parcel but with a chest (cardboard box covered to look like a chest) full of sweets and when the music stops they take something out the chest and are then out, last one in wins the prize.
Had it as fancy dress so small prize for best costume.
Also had a pinata in the shape of a treasure chest
party bags - got treasure chest money boxes and filled with chocolate coins - not very MSE though:D

    we had a pirate party
invites; we used normal paper which we printed a treasure map on then we put some old fashioned writing on which both you can download, then tear the edges then use old teabags to age them then send them out like scrolls tied with black ribbon.
cake: if you can get a costco cake they are lovely and you can get some great cake toppers on ebay
we got some black balloons from ebay and put small sweets in them then we played a game which we called cannon ball pop, very noisy but great fun.
we also had a treasure hunt and played something called catch a pirate, where and adult stands at one end then the children have to creep up to catch him but they keep turning round if a child gets caught have to go back to begining
you can also make islands out of card and use them like musical chairs.

i agree with the above tho chocolate coins can be quite expensive we ended up buying 300

my 15 year old and his friends also put on a great pirate show with sword fights set to pirates of the carribean music

http://www.professorparadox.co.uk/pirate_party.htm this website had some good ideas

we used a water melon which we stuck cocktail sausages on for a beard using cocktail sticks a cherry tomato nose and hard boiled egg eye then used an eye patch and a bandana was a great centre piece.
also used black flags using cocktail sticks and black paper, with a white pen we changed alot of the foods names, ie egg and cress was seagull eggs and seaweed. ice some fairy cakes with blue icing for the sea and make some shark fins out of grey fondant icing and called them shark bites

    hope this helps
  • The chocolate gold coins usually go down well, maybe the princesses could get theirs in a girly party bag tho. When my son had a pirate party we made shark infested jelly - you can buy jelly sharks from 'A quarter of' online sweet shop but this might be a bit impractical if you're in a hired hall. We played all the usual games but we had pin the beak on the parrot (alternative to the tail on the donkey).

Poundland had little pirates of the caribean (yes i know i cant spell lol) games which contained loads of little ships to build may be worth a trip to see if your local one has them would make a fab party bag toy for a pirate theme :-)
