Panasonic TV damaged when repaired!

Hi all,
I am hoping to get some advice on a 42" plasma Panasonic TV that was under a 5 year manufacturer warantee. One morning, we turned the TV on and there was a while/green line down the middle of the TV. We called Panasonic who gave us the details of a service engineer in our area. The service engineer came and picked the TV up and made a note that the TV was pristine (we look after our belongings!). When it returned a week later, we noticed a scratch on the glass of the TV! The engineer made a note of this scratch and said someone would get back to us.
It's been a week and we have heard nothing from the service engineers. We have called countless times and are always told the 'service manager' will call back. Of course, there have been no calls. We called Panasonic who state that it's nothing to do with them as they didn't scratch the TV and that the service engineer MUST do something.
What are our rights? Panasonic told us to go to this service engineer, but are not willing to put pressure on them to fix the glass. All they can do is ask the service engineer to call us. Well, we've tried that!
I am also worried that we have no paperwork from the service company so they could turn around and say that it was scratched before. It would be their work against ours. With their unprofessional behaviour, it appears they have probably assumed this and torn up all paperwork.
Do we just put this down to bad experience?
Thanks.

If not, get them to do this. If the service company want more work via Panasonic they will try to keep them sweet.0 -
Hi KeithP.
Yup, Panasonic called the service engineers twice but only told them to call us. Panasonic said that's all they can do.
