hi cud someone explain allowances please?
a while back i thought u cud buy something from a foreign shop and it's not classed as duty free because tax and duty was paid. i think this allowed more of an allowance. prime one was kos in greece where it was cheaper than duty free shops so u cud bring back more pre eu is this still the case? thx

Yes you can bring back more "duty paid". For the EEC you need to convince customs that it is for personal consumption and you won't resell it. Obviously this is easier if you have a couple of bottles of wine rather than a fleet of lorries. For practical purposes here is a web site showing the rough amounts customs are likely to let you bring back, both from the EEC and outside it.0
