I am getting confused. My daughter will be 10 soon and I will be moving over to JSA. I received a letter this morning saying that if the entitlement to IS is purely as a Lone Parent then I should contact the Child Tax Credits. I already get CTC so will I get an equivalent increase in CTC to my current IS payment and what happens when I get JSA? I get £38 per week in IS due to maintenance that I get from ex. When I contact the CTC I won't know how much IS or JSA I will receive. I also go to uni part-time trying to get enough credits for a degree.
Just when I think my finances are sorted and running smoothly someone comes along to mess it up!

I'm not sure why you need to inform tax credits of the change over, the amount of money you get will be the same on JSA as IS I think, although it may be that the amount you can have as maintenance before your benefit is reduced may change. The best thing you can do is pop into the Jobcentre and see a Lone Parent advisor.
You'll have to declare that you are doing a university course and they will consider if its possible for you to continue to do that under the JSA rules.
 Best of luck

You may have to stop your uni as when on JSA you must be available for full time work. Which you wont be if going to uni.0

From the 12th April 2010 your child support will be disregarded fully for benefit purposes.*SIGH* 0 0
