"She who must be obeyed" wants a deck area.
SCrewfix only seem to sell kits.
I don't want joists etc - just the decking surface.
Anyone got a good supplier?
I live in Halesowen in the West Midlands
TIA.

If you know a friendly builder try Travis Perkins (expensive unless you get a discount). Alternatively try ringing round a few timber yards and playing them off against each other.0

We found Jewsons to be the cheapest, lm well pleased with ours. Dont buy the screws there as they were rather expensive.0

Can someone help me on this too please?
The stuff that they sell in B&Q, is that hard wood or softwood?
And what sort of wood is it? They only seem to do one sort!
I am trying to get it cheaper but when I ring timber / builders merchants they ask what sort I want!

OH is outside at the moment, doing my decking with decking planks from Jewsons - they have a weird system of selling by the metre, not the length, but the timber is only available by the length - just over 15' if I remember rightly, so planning your decking carefully to make the most of that can save money. We did have to send two planks back after delivery as they were badly split, but replacements arrived within the hour. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Raksha, how much were the planks and joists from Jewsons in what sizes?
Any to anyone else, why when I ring the timber merchants do they say planks are 32 x 125 and then say the finished planks are 27 x 120?

Just finished mine quite large at 40m2 - took a month.
I paid £1.09 metre for 4" x 2" pretreated joists
£1.50 metre for 125mm x 28mm Decks also pretreated and reversible
Available in various lengths from 3.5m, 4.1m, 4.5m, 4.8m and so on
I designed my deck so that boards were not needed to be cut.
Bought From a local family hardware store in Gloucester, so shop around.
My wife works for B&Q and there 150mm wide decks were more expensive even with 20% discount.
The decks are normally softwood. You can now buy composite decks which are not timber but look like timber decks. Vey expensive but almost maintenance free.
Bought my screws from screwfix and B&Q with discount. Cheapest place.
Top tip - Predrill holes before screwing decks down - avoids splitting decks.0 -
