Hi
Not sure if this is the right place for this but looking for advice if anyone can offer any, I booked a hotel room for 7th march back on the 12th october it was part of a christmas present for my parents. When my parents arrived to check in they were told the booking was cancelled however I emailed the hotel complaining etc and I have been told they will not refund the money as the booking was changed in november by telephone to a different date in january and the booking had been used, the person who signed the room card while they shared our surname had a different first name.
I am now wondering if there is anything else I can do it wasnt for a lot of money it was just a holiday inn express but I dont see why I should be left out of pocket for this.
Thanks for any help you can offer

No advice really, but that's very weird goings on indeed. I assume you paid in full at the time of booking if you're after a refund. If the hotel changed the booking over the phone, surely they would have taken some security details before changing it? Or at least you'd hope so.
Either that or someone else with your surname and their own booking called up to change their date, and some moron has just tapped in the surname and changed your booking instead. Even if it was a genuine mistake, they should be looking into it further. Just going "oh well it was the same surname so it must have been you" isn't good enough really. Good luck getting it sorted. I'm sure someone will be on here soon to tell you who you can go to.Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0 -
I think a mix up in surnames is probably to blame -are you a Smith, Jones or Brown? But that means that the other persons booking was presumably been a no-show. I wouldn't let this pass, as whatever happened the person revising the booking should have been more careful.0
