Well, after having to postpone our holiday to Rome last October due to illness, we are finally going in a couple of weeks (although BA could hit us yet!!)
We are staying near the Termini and was wonder if there are any useful (free) wifi spots nearby eg a Macdonalds or something?

If you have an unlocked mobile broadband dongle(everybody should have one) or a suitable mobile telephone, you can buy a SIM card; Maxxi Alice Facile for 20 euros that will give you a GB over a month. You can extend this to 3GB if necessary. It also includes Public WiFi access where available.
More info here.

Hang on a sec Donnie.
I have a 3 dongle. Roaming rates are ridiculous even within Europe. Are you saying i can get the dongle unlocked and then buy a sim card - say in the US and use it there using the allowance given? The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -

Yes. If it's the ZTE MF 627 modem, there are instructions within this forum how to unlock at no cost.0
