Regional pricing
Are there any companies which do not take into account where you live when appyling price cuts anymore?
The lst time my electricity provider EDF trumpeted cuts they did not reduce my tariff one iota because they were already fairly cheap in my area. What this would means is prices converging but the cheapest available stays more or less the same. So much for the Tories beloved 'market forces' principle. It all smacks of a cartel with no one prepared to truly produce a competitive tariff safe in the knowledge that their rivals will at best just match them.

Ebico certainly cut their electricity prices in all areas the last time they announced a price reduction.
However, their prices are not the cheapest, so presumably they had a lot of opportunity to reduce prices across the board.
However, even ebico reduced their electricity tariffs by varying amounts depending on location. This is probably because the reason for the electricity price reduction was a s a result of wholesale price reductions. However, the wholesale price is only a part of the overall cost you pay for electricity and so the other costs (distribution etc) weren't affected
As another example, I remember that Scottish Power didn't reduce their unit prices for their standard electricity (at least in my area) but did double the prompt payment discount producing quite a saving. The prompt payment discount is the same across the country."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
