ETA sold 2 big musical dvd packs to my mrs mop (£20) and then also worked out that she's away, then I'm away, so we won't be having her about until Mid April - saving 3x£30 (ITS PAID FOR BY LODGER MONEY :D)- after that she's in for another job so she's going to tell us when she's letting us go - rather than me pay her off when we move or before - when it suits her :D

    Hi everyone

Happy Friday! I am really looking forward to the weekend and the spring clean I've got scheduled in. In preparation my list today looks like this:

    - visit TJH's to find some cheap but pretty bedding none, I'll have a look online. Got £8 off Mr A.
    - buy some paint for the wood in the bathroom will do tomorrow
    - went easy on the make up & using old/almost run out stuff - holding out for bday money!
    - smile that my nail polish has no chips yet. Phew, base and top coat was a good buy. :pwoohoo
    - do any available surveys will do tomorrow
    - yoga tonight, which I've already paid for so feels like it's free just back
    - NSD @ work - sandwich for lunch and free tea to drink check
    - more fish we got for free for tea :DOH is on the job
    - really need to do something with that bag of apples! Have some frozen pastry so it should be easy...right?!
    - devise some sort of meal plan to see what we need in the food shop this weekend
    - devise some sort of laundry plan to see what I can wash/dry at home and what would be best drying at the launderette - a bit more hassle but it can take days to dry in the flat and there's not enough space to wash everything as we've only got 2 airers and no radiators and the tumble dryer probably costs a fortune to run and doesn't even work very well. Boo. Hoping for a house with a garden in 2011!! I guess if I stayed on top of it I could wash and dry one load at a time (which wouldn't take up more space than 1 airer) but that would probably mean doing a load every day (depending on whether the clothes dried before the next load was done) and constantly having wet clothes in the middle of the living room floor and the dehumidifier working overtime and I really can't face that either. I even bought a JML 'dry buddy' but that just ends up filling the place with damp air. Trip to wilkos is in order!

Fay - sounds like you've got a busy day! It all sounds so exciting.

Josie - what is a purge and can I be selling them???

    Almost the weekend!

    xx

La escocesa - hello - wonder if you want to hear my very silly widow twankies solution to drying clothes in a very very wet climate where venturing outside only happens sometimes during the summer!! It prob won't suit anyone else but here's what we do

I don't use airers often - (mainly cos I gave them to my lodgers doh!) I think they take ages to dry things - we just hang things up on coat hangers which work well as also the get a good shape (no ironing). I hang them on tops of doors on those over the door plastic things for coats if I have them or just on the doors tbh - curtain rails - and anywhere a hanger will hang - higher is better guess cos of hot air rising.

My other essentials have been 3 of those £1 hang your socks/smalls on airers (got mine south in a £1 shop) - do you know the ones I mean? Circular and have pegs hanging from them with a big hook to hang them up. We've all one each - so all the socks etc goes on our own one. I hang mine in my wardrobe or over my door and its dry by morning.

We don't have a tumble drier (not had one for 15 years) and I do at least one load every day - with hanging them on coat hangers somehow we just kinda lose the stuff.

ETA although it does look a bit like a laundry sometimes! I do live in a drafty house though - so not been bothered with damp etc.

Taking the bigger bits to laundry sounds like a good idea - :)

:) looking forward to my busy day - ta for saying!

Hello everyone and hope you're having a good day. Lots of great DFW things happening up there. Congratulations on the move, Positive. I've just finished a huge work project and have that hunched-over-the-computer-bleurgh-but-yay-it's-the-weekend kind of feeling. Looking forward to a chilled afternoon.

Yesterday wasn't exactly a stirling DFW effort on my part, although it was a NSD.
    Today's small DFW plans include:
    [strike]meals from larder[/strike] sorted
    [strike]return library books[/strike]
[strike]go to post office to get mobile phone recycling envelope proof of posting[/strike] looking forward to receiving the cashback
    [strike]stick the laundry on 30[/strike]
[strike]batch cooking extravaganza[/strike] great therapy! And lots of tasty stuff in batches in the freezer now
    check online banking

Have a nice afternoon all x

Oooh must remember to do that too, uphillstruggler - was just going to put mine in the post box but I guess it's prime candidate to go missing...

Thanks Fay - might get myself a couple of those little hanger circular things. I reckon they can definitely go on the shower rail. Think the main problem is that air doesn't circulate round. If I'm in all day tomorrow though I can get everything hanging everywhere and keep the front door and both windows open. Just means I can really only get washing on at the weekend and by that time it's all piled up again. Boo.

:) looking forward to my busy day - ta for saying!

Ive got 2 large concertina airers from Wilkos and I can dry about 4 loads on there at once and it dries within 24 hrs, often less. I also have one of those little hanging airers and I can hang the socks up (attached to the velux window handle lol) and I have often hung the socks up at 11pm and they are bone dry by 7am the next day, and thats with no heating in that room. I also have three 4 bar radiator airers which I hang towels on as they take forever to dry. HTH :)
  • Thanks for that cleosmum - i think i need newer airers - i've only ones i foudn in a charity shop (which now the lodgers have in their room) i love the little sock ones though - i just use to think oh what's the point - but they are great!!

Today i saved myself £4.10 in parking fees. DD2 had to have day surgery today to have a bead taken out of her ear!!! Costs £4.10 for over 4 hours stay so as it was 7.45 am and very quiet i got DF to park in a neighbouring street where a family member lives and we walked the 7 mins to the hospital and saved parking fees!

Been a good week-ish DFW-wise. Lots of worry over DD and taking extra time off work as holiday but other than that it has been good. My mum managed to get my DD's into the swimming that my little sis and bro attend. As i will go with her it will save me £6.80 a week in bus fares!!!!! Thats £27.20 a month!!!! So pretty pleased

Also did a couple of work bits for a couple of hours at home today while DD2 was resting...this allows me to finish early from work on a day that i need it!!

Plus DD1 is playing up at her extra exam ballet lessons i finally agreed to do - she finds them boring! So after the next 2 finish i will not sign her up or put her in for the exam! This will save me £4.50 a week that i would have had to pay until July! Plus the £35 exam fee

Also DD1 didn't want to have school dinners today so i kept the £2 in my purse and she has a lunch from home stock!! :D

So some good DFW small things in there this week!
