Wood Flooring Advise?

Hi, i had a floor fitter, who says in order to get the most out of the oak wood flooring, and to stop the gaps forming the best things to do would be to hold them down with concrete, and he mentioned doing the floor bit by bit, for example do like a square meter, clamp them together, and then do another sqaure meter the following day?

how effective is this method? rather than just laying them on top of underlay etc??

Comments

  • You cant just lay it on underlay. It will move.

Its either glue to concrete, nailed to joists or there is someone on here that says there is a clamping method.

There are so many things the person has to be careful when installing the wood flooring. There are people who can give better advise as they will be have own experience. It is better to have a glue or adhesive in between as it will stick to the floor and there wont be any problem later.

not in your kitchen I hope? my kitchen has some beech effect flooring in, the kind that slots together, and the water gets into the gaps and erodes the finish off the flooring so it goes all black and cracked. bleurgh.
