Text messages SMS on landlines

Other than BT, does anyone know of a land line provider that allows SMS text messages to be sent over the land line? My phone has the ability to send a text message when I have a missed call or answer phone message which I find invaluable.

The reason I ask is that I am unhappy with BT following the evening call time change, and I am looking to move away from them as soon as I can. I have just switched mobile and broadband to O2, but unfortunately their forthcoming home phone package doesn’t have that functionality.

My phone also has VOIP built in (Siemens Gigaset) and so I think it is feasible to use the VOIP connection to send the text, but not sure if any VOIP providers offer that facility either? My O2 broadband does have included 200 free web texts, but I would need to find a way to utilise these from the handset connection rather than a PC which I doubt is possible.

How many texts do you send from BT ?

BT,s 24/7 inclusive call plan £4.99 a month, first 3 months free averaging out to £3.75 a month first year includes 200 inclusive texts . So if you make more then 38 texts a month at 10p a text then your better off staying with them plus you get inclusive peak calls.

Also if pushed BT will give you £24 or £36 credit off your bill.

Not many texts, just when I get a missed call or answer phone message.

BT have had every chance to offer me the credit but haven't. I want to spend my money elsewhere, so looking for a nother provider who can do text messages.

In principle, any provider who uses the BT network should be suitable. That would include TalkTalk (but not on LLU), Sky, Orange, Idnet and O2, for example.

I don't think that is the case as O2 don't offer it. Talk Talk would be no good as they have followed BT and changed the evening free calls to 7pm.
