Pinto Bean help please!
Hi
I planted a few pinto beans in a 4inch pot & placed them in an unheated propagator on a sunny windowsill (they where a mexican grow in a pot range.)
They have now come up really well (at a flower like stage) but i'm unsure about the next steps & what to do with them. The instructions that came with the beans are very basic, i have looked online & struggeled for basic info, all i have done so far is to take the pots out of the propagator.
I am only able to grow in pots/containers & don't have a greenhouse.
Any help is really appreciated!!!!

Anyone? Three have popped up & the tallest is about 3cm at the moment, i'm just not sure what to do next, do i repot them & keep them somewhere sunny or start hardening them off in a coldframe? i've googled them but confused myself as most reference are to them been grown outside & mine are to be in containers.0

If they are 3 cms tall, they are not at the flowering stage.
Are these dwarf beans or climbing beans. How high does it say they grow on the packet? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi
Sorry, the smallest is 3-4cm tall & just starting to flower & the other two are larger & have flowered. It does not give an indication on the packet of how high they grow as they where part of a kit (Fusion cooking, mexican range) that i got from Morrisons inc jalapeno pepper & tomato.
Just Pinto beans.
Any help what to do next with them is really appreciated!.0 -
Waaaay too early for beans outside, I sow mine much later, in about a month.
I grew pinto beans last year courtesy from someone from here, they were dwarf plants, grew about 30cm x 30cm.
I would imagine these would be similar.
You could try growing them on inside, in as bigger pots as you can get.
Next time buy proper seeds and not these rip off kits.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
LOTUS EATER-Thanks for reply. But they where cheap actually the set was 97p for 3 pots, the compost in it & three packets of seed, pinto, jelapeno & tomato. It was more a bit of fun to do with my little one.But maybe i did it too early as he was eager to get started, i'll probably pot it on & keep it inside then.
P.s When would you suggest i pot them on?0 -
